Me: Tell us about the Village of Primm series.

As of December 2020, the Village of Primm series is a two-book series: Holly Banks Full of Angst (released December 2019) and The Peculiar Fate of Holly Banks (released November 2020). Both books were published by Lake Union Publishing, the book club imprint of Amazon Publishing. The series takes its name from the Village of Primm, an idyllic, satirical fictitious town and home to the titular character, Holly Banks.
Me: What inspired you to write Holly Banks Full of Angst?
Julie: I was inspired by the thought of a less-than-perfect mom searching for mostly happy in a pretty good life. When the underdog, fish-out-of-water character of Holly Banks began to form in my mind, I couldn’t stop until I gave her a voice on the page.
Me: Describe your writing life?
Julie: My writing life tends to include three things: a cup of tea (English or Irish Breakfast, sometimes Darjeeling), a lit candle (Trapp candle, Bob’s Flower Market scent), and my two dogs (English Labradors, one yellow, the other chocolate). Other than that, I write most often on my laptop, but always with paper by my side because my hands often itch for a pen and the tactile experience of working with paper.
Me: What surprised you the most about your book’s journey?
Julie: I am surprised by the many people who are now in my life because of the books. How surprising to think you’re sending a book out into the world, only to find bits and pieces of the world return to you.
Me: What are your future writing plans?
Julie: I’m currently working on Book #3, but I am in the early stages and still discovering where the story and characters want to take me.
